TRENTINO - Martini Palace and its 1700 artworks

Formed in the shape of an irregular quadrilateral, Palazzo Martini is found in the historic core of the town of Riva del Garda.
The Palazzo, a highly interesting example of the town’s archaeological heritage, was most likely commissioned by the Moscardini family, whose crest once appeared on the main façade.
The apartment, found on the principal floor, measures 320 m2 and is under the protection of the Superintendent of Fine Arts, on account of its theatre ad the many important frescoes, whose creation is credited to Giuseppe Canella [1788 – Florence, 1847] or Verona. The ceilings of all the rooms are decorated with his frescoes depicting mythical subjects, together with the solid colours on the walls, responsible for the name of each setting.
The theatre is small jewel, thanks not only to the elegant pictorial decorations but the architectural structure as well: the roomy theatre is rectangular in form, with perfect acoustics, thanks to the special shape of the ceiling, which is decorated with a marvellous fresco that can also be admired from the balcony which runs along the theatre’s entire perimeter.
